Jakarta (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck northwest of Melonguane in North Sulawesi Province on Sunday night.

The official website of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the tremor, which hit at 20:48 WIB (West Indonesia Standard Time), was centered 282 kilometers (km) northwest of Melonguane, at a depth of 68 km.

The quake was not significant enough to trigger a tsunami.
