Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's only men’s singles player in the tournament, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting advanced to the semifinal of the 2019 China Open, beating India's Sai Praneeth 16-21, 21-6, 21-16. "During the first game, I had a hard time adapting to the airy court, therefore, I lost many points. It turns out that we should play as per the court conditions as it determines our control of the shuttlecock," Ginting said in a statement issued by the Indonesian Badminton Statement received here, Friday.

He had learned from his previous defeat when playing with Praneeth in the 2019 World Championships, Ginting explained.

"In today's game, I was in full control of my mind, there was no rush. It was different from the previous game with Praneeth. Every time I had a chance, I would try to score a point," he remarked.

Following his victory in the quarterfinal, Ginting will compete against Denmark's Anders Antonsen.

Ginting maybe Indonesia's last hope to reclaim the men singles category's trophy in the China Open since Alan Budikusuma won the title in 1994. (INE) EDITED BY INE
