Lombok Tengah, NTB (ANTARA) - The CEO of Dorna Sports SL, Carmelo Ezpeleta observed the construction site of the Mandalika MotoGP circuit in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK), Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Monday.

On his first visit after the Mandalika circuit was announced as the location of the prestigious MotoGP race, Ezpeleta was accompanied by his son who also served as Sporting Director of Dorna Carlos Ezpeleta, Managing Director of PT. Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) Abdulbar M Mansoer, ITDC Director of Construction and Operations, Ngurah Wirawan, and Secretary of Central Lombok District, HM Nursiah.

Apart from observing the location, Carmelo Ezpeleta and his son Carlos Ezpeleta also went around the location of the circuit which would be 4.31 kilometers long and contain 17 bends.

After reviewing the location, Carmelo Ezpeleta told reporters that he was satisfied with the progress of construction of the circuit.

He was optimistic that the Mandalika circuit would become the most iconic and beautiful highway circuit in the world, he said.

"This will be the first most beautiful highway circuit in the world," he said.

Besides being satisfied with the progress of the circuit development, Ezpeleta was optimistic about the construction being completed on schedule.

As a result, the Mandalika MotoGP could be held there in 2021.

"We believe that construction can be completed on time, especially since Indonesia has one of the largest collection of Moto GP fans in the world," Ezpeleta remarked.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT. Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) Abdulbar M Mansoer, also expressed optimism on the construction of the circuit being completed on schedule.

"The visit of Carmelo Ezpeleta is proof that the Mandalika circuit will be completed on time," he said.

In the process of building the circuit, ITDC will not work alone, because the construction has involved and carried the name of the government and the state.

So, there is no doubt that the construction will be completed on time, he said.

"This is an Indonesian project and moreover, it concerns tourism and sports. Indonesia is capable of holding the Asian Games, the second largest sporting event after the Olympics. MotoGP has 430 million fans in the world. Dorna is very confident about the potential of Indonesia," he remarked. (INE)
