The determination to go home is very clear, we have made a promise to our people to go home at November 9, and we will go home on November 9.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Mu Sochua, Vice President of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), the main opposition to Hun Sen’s administration, will, along with CNRP President Sam Rainsy, return home on November 9 on the 66th Cambodia Independence Day. "The determination to go home is very clear. We have made a promise to our people to go home on November 9, and we will go home on November 9," Sochua stated at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

As quoted by Reuters, opposition leader Sam Rainsy has been exiled and living in France for four years, following accusations against him in a defamation case for which he paid US$1 million.

The exiled Mu Sochua, according to the Reuters report on October 24, was denied access into Thailand when she wanted to enter Cambodia by crossing the border between the two countries.

For the upcoming returning-home plan, CNRP leaders will try the similar scenario of the land route through the Thailand-Cambodia border, after Rainsy arrives at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport on a Thai Airways flight TG931 from France on November 8.

"I wish to request, therefore, the right to land at Bangkok international airport on November 8, and then to enter Cambodia at Poipet, near Aranyaprathet," Rainsy wrote on his letter to Thailand Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha dated October 31, 2019, as seen by ANTARA.

With two days left for his arrival, the letter remains unanswered.

"We know that over 300 overseas Cambodians have already signed up, and are also on their way to Thailand or already there to join us to reach the border. At this moment we are awaiting an answer from the royal government of Thailand," Sochua said.

However, Sochua emphasized that the plan will be realized again, based on the determination of the party and the people behind them.
