Xiaomi will invest by opening more "Mi Stores" and forging collaboration with over two thousand cellphone sales shops across Indonesia, Xiaomi Deputy Director for International Affairs Christine Wong remarked while meeting Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun in Beijing on Monday (Nov 18).
Wong explained that other investments entailed opening after-sales service outlets and product repairs.
During the meeting with Ambassador Djauhari at Xiaomi's office in Beijing, Wong discussed Xiaomi's plan to expand business and investment networks in Indonesia.
Xiaomi was founded in 2010 and currently has a workforce crossing 20 thousand globally, with 1,600 of its main staff from various countries outside China.
Xiaomi made its presence felt in Indonesia in 2014. Currently, Xiaomi Indonesia's main staff reaches some 100 people. The Xiaomi factory in Batam employs over two thousand people.

The first production of the Xiaomi factory in Indonesia was mobile phone Redmi A4 in February 2017.
Indonesia becomes the most vital partner for Xiaomi.
To this end, Xiaomi is also working with more parties in Indonesia, Wong pointed out.
Xiaomi once held the Suppliers Summit in 2018 in Batam and the Xiaomi Developers Conference (MiDC) in September 2019 in Jakarta that managed to draw the interest of Indonesian startups and individual developers to share ideas on technological development.
"Hence, we will continue to invite Xaomi to collaborate with start-ups in Indonesia and recruit Indonesia’s young generation," Ambassador Djauhari remarked.
In 2020, Xiaomi will launch a series of new products in Indonesia at reasonable prices and good quality.
Hence, the ambassador encourages Xiaomi to boost investment in Indonesia.
"Looking at the demographics and projections of Indonesia's economic progress, Xiaomi must invest more in Indonesia," he added.
