The community including companies should help people who are affected by the floodsJakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has invited all parties to conduct relief work together after the floods that occurred in the Greater Jakarta area since January 1, 2020.
Karnavian, while reviewing a post in Jatiasih, Bekasi, Friday, said that post-flood handling by mutual assistance would certainly accelerate the recovery of affected residents. "All parties must move. The community including companies should help people who are affected by the floods," he remarked.
Community service from the government is already running and there have been instructions from President Joko Widodo regarding flood management, he said.
"This afternoon we will have a meeting led directly by the President and the relevant ministries," the minister said.
The Directorate General of the Home Ministry's Population and Civil Registry (Dukcapil) will immediately republish documents that were lost or damaged in the floods, Tito said.
"Residents who have lost or damaged their civil registration documents such as identification cards, birth certificates, marriage books and others, I have ordered immediate, easy and fast services for such residents," he said.
Tito Karnavian visited the Ministry of Home Affairs Ministry of Command Post in Jatiasih, Perum Villa Jatirasa, Bekasi, West Java, Friday.
"The impact of the flood is still very visible on the road and in the houses," the minister said.
The minister assessed the necessity for heavy equipment and vacuum cleaners that were needed to clean up the remaining mud that had entered homes.
"But what needs to be done for the people whose houses are affected, and where the mud is still deep, is certain equipment, including a vacuum cleaner," he said.
He also guaranteed that the central government and the regional government would be responsive and move together to overcome the problem caused by floods and natural disasters.

Sixteen people have reportedly died from the heavy downpour in Jakarta and Greater Jakarta after the New Year's celebrations, Wednesday, January 1, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) announced today.
"Our field officers reported that of the 16 casualties, eight were reported in Jakarta; one in Bekasi; three in Depok; one in Bogor city; one in Bogor district; one in Tangerang; and one in South Tangerang," BNPB's spokesperson, Agus Wibowo, noted in a statement received here Thursday.
The figures may rise, as his office will be reviewing the figures based on reports from the field, he estimated.
In Jakarta, most victims, including two males aged 16 and 82, were reported to have died from hypothermia, drowning, and electrical shock, Wibowo explained. However, four died in Bekasi, Depok, and Bogor in the landslides after torrential rains and massive flooding continued unabated for over 20 hours.
