"I informed Mr President of reports from my friends (on the field) as well as (our intent) to always attempt to send across a (peace) message, so the tension will not continue to escalate," Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi remarked at the Presidential Palace compounds here on Thursday.
The minister spoke of having conveyed the peace message through the US and Iranian ambassadors to Indonesia.
On Thursday morning, Marsudi engaged in a telephonic conversation with her Vietnamese counterpart, who is currently assuming the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

"This morning, I also spoke to him on phone. He has been in New York. In essence, we hope that through Vietnam's presidency, the country would be able to strive for de-escalation," she noted.
On Wednesday, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated that the Indonesian government is endeavoring to prevent a war between the United States and Iran by encouraging them to find a solution to their conflict.
"We (Indonesia) want peace. Hence, what we have to do is to find a peaceful solution, so the war will not take place," he stated
