Based on the result of tracing, they once came in close contact with a COVID-19 patient,Padang (ANTARA) - The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in West Sumatra Province rose by nine to 71 on Saturday after the laboratory of the medical school of Padang-based Andalas University announced the result of its swab testing.
"All the patients identified positively (for the COVID-19) today hail from Padang City. Based on the result of tracing, they once came in close contact with a COVID-19 patient," spokesman for the province's task force for the acceleration of COVID-19 handling Jasman said here on Saturday.
Of the 71 confirmed coronavirus cases, 13 patients have recovered, nine patients have succumbed to death, 16 patients are being treated at different hospitals and 35 people are self-isolating at their homes and government facilities, he said.
"Today we also have two more positive patients recovering from the COVID-19. They are a 51-year old woman treated at M Djamil General Hospital and a 22-year old man treated at Ahmad Mochtar Hospital in Bukittinggi," he said.
Also on Saturday, one COVID-19 patient aged 59 died after being treated at Unand Hospital, he said.
By Saturday, the number of people under surveillance for COVID-19 in the province reached 6,360 of whom 633 are still being monitored and 5,727 have passed through the surveillance period.
The number of patients under surveillance is 218, including 39 treated at different referral hospitals while awaiting the results of their laboratory test, 157 testing negative for the COVID-19 and 22 undergoing self-isolation.
