Semarang, C Java (ANTARA) - A former member of the Semarang City Legislative Council (DPRD), arrested over drug possession, was tried at the local district court on Monday. Spokesperson for the Semarang District Court, Eko Budi Supriyanto, confirmed the trial of the former legislator, identified by his initials as SHP.

"The trial has begun online," he said.

The Drug Detective Unit of the Semarang City Police arrested SHP at the Puri Anjasmoro Street in Semarang in November, 2019 after he picked up a package of drugs he had ordered.

Police seized five ecstasy pills wrapped in used candy paper from him.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly told police he had ordered ecstasy pills twice, Supriyanto said.
