Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin appealed to Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII) Rector Prof.Dr.Komaruddin Hidayat to prepare international-standard curricula, especially for four study programs: Islamic Studies, Political Science, Law, and Islamic Economics.

"UIII is an international campus, so the curriculum is of international standard and substance," Amin noted in a statement here on Wednesday.

Amin emphasized that the UIII should also ready other necessities, including academic guidelines and lecture management plans, as well as recruit lecturers, both from within and outside the country.

All these preparations should be made from September or a year before lectures officially commence in September 2021, according to the vice president.

"Hence, my conclusion is that the building plan is ready for June, and lectures will start in September 2021. Therefore, I think all of those should be prepared in September. A work schedule is required for the preparation process," he explained.

In the meantime, Hidayat affirmed that the UIII campus would symbolize Indonesia's intellectual awakening and not solely prioritize Muslims but also be inclusive for all academics.

"I consciously oversee this project and avoid political controversy. We are also looking to create a type of Interfaith Center, so that UIII is not exclusive to Muslims," Komaruddin remarked after holding a virtual meeting with the vice president here on Tuesday.

The UIII was established in 2016 in accordance with Government Regulation Number 57 of 2016. The UIII statute was made in 2019 based on Government Regulation Number 23 of 2019, concurrently with the appointment of the trustee and inauguration of the UIII rector.

The UIII will open postgraduate (S2) and doctoral (S3) education levels for seven faculties and departments: Islamic Studies, Political Sciences, Education Science, Law, Islamic Economics and Finance, Science and Technology, and Architecture.
