Jakarta (ANTARA) - The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has said he expects financial auditors to share the same priorities and inclination to work for the benefit of the community.

The President made the remarks at the launch of the ‘Investigation of State Financial Management and Responsibility in Handling the COVID-19 Pandemic’ at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"I hope that every auditor has the similar orientation for the priority of the interests of the people, the interests of the nation, and the interests of the state," the President said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The President said the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the central and regional governments, the Indonesian Military, the National Police, and State-Owned Enterprises to take extraordinary steps to deal with the ensuing health crisis and the economic crisis.

The government must move quickly in evacuating Indonesian citizens from the pandemic area, he added.

The government must prepare hospitals, isolation houses, medical equipment, medicines in a very short time, and must mobilize all apparatuses to ensure people obey and follow the health protocols, he noted.

The President said the government supports the immediate conduct of the financial audit, so that the audit can support activities to find solutions for better ways of dealing with the crisis. (INE)
