As the day-to-day chief of KNEKS, I receive this award on behalf of KNEKS and the Indonesian government. On behalf of KNEKS and the Indonesian government, I express my gratitude to the GIFA Award Committee for its trust and this award.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, representing the Indonesian government and the National Committee for Sharia Economy and Finance (KNEKS), received an advocacy award from the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA).
The award was presented to the vice president online from the Islamabad Marriott Hotel in Pakistan in the capacity as the organizer of GIFA Awards 2020.
"As the day-to-day chief of KNEKS, I receive this award on behalf of KNEKS and the Indonesian government. On behalf of KNEKS and the Indonesian government, I express my gratitude to the GIFA Award Committee for its trust and this award," the vice president noted during a video address from Jakarta on Monday.
The award offers a stimulus to Indonesia, especially KNEKS, to develop sharia-compliant economic and financial activities in the wake of a host of present-day challenges, he affirmed.
With the conferment of the GIFA advocacy award, Amin is opitimistic that Indonesia would soon be able to realize its ideal of becoming a global hub for sharia economy and halal industry to serve as a reference for other countries.
"We receive the award as a challenge to work hard in order to realize the Indonesian vision of being a global hub for sharia economy and halal industry," he noted.
This is not the first time that Indonesia has been a recipient of the GIFA Awards. In 2016, President Joko Widodo also received the GIFA Leadership Awards, while Amin, as the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) chief, was presented the GIFA Lifetime Awards.
In 2019, Indonesia stood first in ranking for sharia finance development.
"Several sharia economic and financial agents, such as Bank Indonesia, BAZNAS (the National Alms Body), and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) also received such awards and so have SBSN Indonesia publisher and several sharia financial service institutions," he pointed out.
