Jakarta (ANTARA) - Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto revealed on Monday that 2,110 beds were still available in self-isolation rooms and 253 beds in intensive care units (ICU) for confirmed COVID-19 patients exhibiting moderate to serious symptoms.

"In addition to self-isolation rooms for patients ranging from being asymptomatic to those exhibiting mild symptoms, (we) have readied rooms to treat patients with moderate to serious symptoms," the minister noted during an online press conference at the Presidential Office here.

The minister had earlier spoken of the government having prepared 11,637 beds at the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital, health training halls, and hotels for asymptomatic patients and those with mild symptoms.

"Especially in Jakarta, as per the results of direct checks, monitoring, and impromptu visits conducted on the field, as of 12:00 local time on September 13, 2020, (the hospitals there) still have 1,088 empty beds out of the existing 4,271 beds for COVID-19 patients, with moderate symptoms, to conduct self-isolation," he stated.

"In the next few days, the number of beds in self-solation rooms will increase, from 1,022 to 5,293," he remarked.

This means the number of empty beds in self-isolation rooms for COVID-19 patients, with moderate symptoms, reaches 2,110, he stated.

"Meanwhile, 115 out of the existing 584 beds in ICUs are also vacant for COVID-19 patients, with serious symptoms. The number of beds in ICUs will increase by 138 to reach 722 in the next few days," he remarked.

The number of empty beds in ICUs reached 253, as of September 13, 2020, he noted.

Indonesia recorded 3,683 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, thereby taking the tally to 218,382. Of the total, 155,010 patients recovered from the disease, while 8,723 patients succumbed to the virus.
