Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed on Friday that 115 persons working for the commission and other institutions in the KPK building compounds have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

They are among 1,931 people, comprising KPK employees, outsourced workers, police officers, military personnel, and detainees, who underwent swab testing between September 7 and September 14, acting spokesperson for the KPK, Ali Fikri, said in a statement issued on Friday.

"The results of (swab) tests on 1,898 people have been known. As per the recapitulation of the preliminary results of swab tests conducted in the KPK building compounds since March 18, 2020, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 115, comprising employees of KPK and other agencies in the KPK building compounds," he said.

He said 33 of the 115 employees have recovered, 81 are self-isolating, and one has succumbed to the virus. In the last diagnosis, the deceased had tested negative for COVID-19, he informed.

The swab testing was part of mitigation efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the KPK building compounds. So, quick action could be taken to deal with infections as employees exposed to COVID-19 carried out self isolation, he said.

"The other effort (to contain COVID-19) is adjusting the working system and hours of KPK employees and spraying disinfectant periodically inside and outside the KPK building, including KPK's detention centers," he added.

It was reported earlier that KPK investigator, Police Commissioner Pandu Hendra Sasmita, died of COVID-19 on Sunday. Sasmita was admitted to the Police Hospital in East Jakarta and declared free from the virus before his death.
