With minimum sentiments, we forecast the IHSG to end mixed in today's trade.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) is forecast to end in mixed mode on Tuesday before the US presidential debate.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) opened 22.79 points higher, up 0.46 percent, at 4,929.33, while index of the 45 most liquid stocks (LQ45) rose 6.1 points, or 0.81 percent, to touch 756.1.

"With minimum sentiments, we forecast the IHSG to end mixed in today's trade," the Samuel Sekuritas research team noted in a report on Tuesday.

The US stock exchange ended higher overnight. Expectations of a COVID-19 stimulus package resurfaced. Banking stocks, such as JP Morgan and Citigroup, increased, while airline stocks, such as United Airlines and Delta Airlines, ended higher.

The first round of the US presidential debate, scheduled for Tuesday, will likely draw attention from market agents. The second and third rounds of the presidential debate will be held on Oct 15 and Oct 22 respectively.

On the domestic front, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Indonesia remained flat on Monday to touch 3,509, thereby taking the total tally to 278,722.

In Asian regional markets on Tuesday morning, the Nikkei Index dropped 112.58 points, or 0.48 percent, to 23,399.04; the Hang Seng Index rose 58.71 points, or 0.25 percent, to 23,534.76; and the Straits Times Index climbed 2.39 points, or 0.1 percent, to reach 2,485.4.
