The remaining four provinces -- Central Java, Papua, Bali, and Aceh -- continued to witness an increase in the number of cases," Task Force's Head of the Data and Information Technology Department, Dr. Dewi Nur Aisyah, stated during a press conference at Graha BNPB here on Wednesday.
Jakarta recorded a decrease of 0.8 percent in the past one week. Hence, the Task Force has encouraged the capital city to strive to register a further decline in the coming weeks.
In early September, Jakarta had recorded a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, but the figure had decreased slightly over the last week.
The number of cases in North Sumatra also decreased by 3.9 percent, as compared to the earlier week, with 50 percent of the cases from its capital, Medan City.
West Java Province recorded a decline of 28.5 percent in the past week, in contrast to two weeks ago when the number of cases had risen sharply.
The number of cases in East Java Province decreased by eight percent; South Kalimantan, by 8.1 percent; and South Sulawesi, which also recorded a significant decrease of 30.1 percent.
As for the four other provinces, the number of COVID-19 cases in Central Java Province rose by 1.3 percent, a 2.4-percent increase in Papua, 6.3-percent rise in Bali, and 12.2-percent increase, the highest spike, in Aceh.
