Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health recorded 4,056 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, thereby bringing the tally to 311,176 cases as of Tuesday noon.

The country also registered 3,844 new recoveries, thereby taking the total number of people recovering from COVID-19 to 236,437 since the government declared the first two new cases on March 2, 2020.

Meanwhile, 121 COVID-19 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 11,374 cases.

Jakarta recorded the highest number of fresh cases, reaching 1,107, followed by 508 cases in West Java, and 400 cases in Central Java.

Some 10 provinces witnessed the addition of below 10 fresh cases, while the two provinces of North Maluku and Gorontalo recorded no new cases.

A total of 36,342 specimens were tested on Tuesday.

The highest number of people recovering from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Jakarta reached 1,017 followed by 340 recoveries in Central Java.

Jakarta also registered the highest number of deaths at 31, followed by 23 succumbing to the disease in East Java.

The government, through the COVID-19 Task Force, has continued to intensify the public awareness campaign on health protocols against COVID-19 in a bid to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission.
