Jakarta (ANTARA) - Representatives from 10 mass organizations based in Jakarta visited the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Wednesday to declare their “peace-loving movement against anarchism”.

Director of public guidance for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Badya Wijaya, accompanied by chief of the public police development subdirectorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Sri Wardiningsih, received the representatives.

Meanwhile, chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Inspector General Nana Sudjana, thanked the mass organizations for their support in maintaining public order in the capital city.

“The chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has expressed gratitude to the mass organizations and hopes the Peace-Loving Declaration will be echoed to support conducive security and public order," chief of the public relations section of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus, said here on Wednesday.

The 10 mass organizations are the Red-and-White Paramilitary Unit (LMP), Senkom Mitra Polri, Pancasila Youth, Betawi Rempug Forum (FBR), Betawi Sons Communication Forum (Forkabi), Kembang Latar, Siliwangi 1912, Federation of Siliwangi Sons Initiative (Gibas), Panca Marga Youth (PPM), and the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI).

The declaration of the “peace-loving movement against anarchism” is a manifestation of support to the police to protect the capital city against irresponsible parties inciting riots by infiltrating peaceful rallies, said Yunus.

The declaration comes a day after a peaceful rally against the job creation law in the capital turned violent on Tuesday. During the rally, 1,377 demonstrators were arrested for allegedly clashing with police personnel. However, none of them have been named suspects as they are still being investigated.
