Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - West Java Governor M. Ridwan Kamil will meet National Police's Criminal Investigation Department’s (Bareskrim’s) summons over alleged health protocol violations during Islam Defenders Front (FPI) leader Habib Rizieq Shihab’s gathering in Megamendung, Bogor, West Java.

"As a law-abiding citizen, I must meet the summons. Tomorrow (Friday, Nov 20), (I) will visit Bareskrim Polri in the company of the chief of legal bureau (of the secretariat of the West Java Province)," Kamil noted during a press conference here on Thursday.

Bareskrim will also summon several other parties over the recent gathering in Megamendung.

"The police will seek clarification from several leaders in the area where the gathering took place," he remarked.

Kamil explained that the summons were not for conducting questioning but for seeking clarification on the gathering wherein the outlined health protocols for fighting COVID-19 were violated.

On Tuesday, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan also met the Jakarta Metropolitan Police's summons to clarify about crowds at FPI leader Shihab’s house in Central Jakarta during the transition period of large-scale social restrictions.

Baswedan is among those summoned to clarify on the alleged violation of health protocols during the wedding of Shihab's daughter on the night of Saturday, Nov 14, 2020.

"Mr Anies Baswedan has offered clarification, and I received a summons yesterday evening to clarify it (the gathering). Hence, we are not questioned but are requested to provide additional clarification on the Bogor gathering," Kamil stated.
