Congratulations to the winners. I highly expect the achievement to be able to encourage other entities in Southeast Asia to work harder in applying energy efficiency
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia was declared the winner of the ASEAN Energy Awards 2020 during the 38th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting, held in Vietnam recently.

In a written statement released on Friday, director general of electricity at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Rida Mulyana, lauded the winners of the awards, saying they would hopefully encourage other entities in Southeast Asia to work harder to achieve energy efficiency.

"Congratulations to the winners. I highly expect the achievement to be able to encourage other entities in Southeast Asia to work harder in applying energy efficiency," he said.

The ASEAN Energy Awards, which were instituted in 2000, are aimed at recognizing best practices and increasing public awareness of utilization and development of new and renewable energy, energy conservation, and use of coal in a responsible way by paying attention to environmental protection.

The Indonesian team emerged as the winner after besting tens of candidates in different categories proposed by ASEAN member states.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry also took home two awards — the Heritage Building emerged as the 1st runner-up in the category of Small & Medium Green Buildings, while the Chairul Saleh Building emerged as the 2nd runner-up in the category of Small & Medium Energy Management in Buildings.
