Gerindra respects the ongoing legal process, and we are following it in accordance with the law in forceJakarta (ANTARA) - The Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party has said it will respect the legal process in the alleged graft case involving export licenses against party member Edhy Prabowo.
“Gerindra respects the ongoing legal process, and we are following it in accordance with the law in force,” said chief of the party's central executive board, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, at the parliament complex here on Thursday.
Dasco Ahmad, who is concurrently deputy chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR), said Gerindra and its general chairman Prabowo Subianto remain committed to supporting corruption eradication efforts in the country.
He said Edhy Prabowo has resigned as deputy chief of the party's central executive board.

"We accept Edhy Prabowo's resignation in accordance with the rule prevailing in the party. Since we have announced it, we will soon prepare his replacement," he informed.
Regarding the party's plan to provide legal assistance to Edhy Prabowo, he said his family has prepared a team of lawyers for him.
Edhy Prabowo was taken into custody by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday night over his alleged involvement in a graft case related to granting of licenses for export of baby lobsters when he was the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister.
“He is allegedly involved in a corruption case related to the export licensing of baby lobsters,” KPK chief Firli Bahuri noted in a statement released in Jakarta on Wednesday.
A KPK team arrested Prabowo at Terminal 3 of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang shortly after he arrived from Honolulu, the US, on Tuesday night, he said.
