Moreover, the youth have a high level of militancy and are fond of facing challenges. They have not had strong self-control and a dynamic outlook of understanding and knowledge. They are in the process of developing and are still in need of guidance.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Director of Prevention Brigadier General (Police) R. Ahmad Nurwakhid emphasized the significance of involving younger generations in thwarting the spread of radicalism since they are susceptible to radicalism and intolerance.

Younger generations have become the main target of activities of radical groups since the youth has a strategic value for the nation's future, Nurwakhid noted in a statement released on Saturday.

"Moreover, the youth have a high level of militancy and are fond of facing challenges. They have not had strong self-control and a dynamic outlook of understanding and knowledge. They are in the process of developing and are still in need of guidance," he pointed out.

Speaking as a source person in peace talks between the BNPT and East Kalimantan youth at the Swiss-Bell Hotel Borneo in Samarinda on Friday (Dec 4), he noted that youth involvement will bolster the fight against radicalism targeting youths.

"Hence, counter-ideology and counter-propaganda narratives through this (cyber) media will be more effective if the youth are involved in making the narrative. Generation z and millennial generation will become our target," he stated.

Abdul Aziz, coordinator of the East Kalimantan peace envoys, remarked that as an envoy of cyber peace appointed by the BNPT, he had fulfilled his duties as a peace-disseminating agent.

Aziz spoke of having teamed up with various youth organizations in East Kalimantan in a bid to create pace.

"In East Kalimantan, we have an annual agenda dubbed "Greet East Kalimantan Youths". We also have the go-to-school program to provide the youth with an understanding of how to use social media and create a peaceful environment there," he added. (INE)
