All of them are Indonesian migrant workers from various provinces.
Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), West Kalimantan, recorded that some 4,600 migrant workers were repatriated from Sarawak, Malaysia, to Indonesia through the Entikong state border post (PLBN) in Sanggau District during January-December 2020.

"All of them are Indonesian migrant workers from various provinces and not only from West Kalimantan," Erwin Rachmat, head of West Kalimantan BP2MI, stated here on Monday.

On Saturday (Dec 12), the agency had received 140 Indonesian migrant workers that were repatriated by the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Kuching, Malaysia.

"The figure includes eight victims of human trafficking in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia," he stated.

Rachmat noted that the agency will facilitate the return of migrant workers to their hometowns.

"We will bring the eight victims to a shelter in Pontianak. The workers, who are not residents of West Kalimantan, will be sent back to their homes," Rachmat stated.

In November, during a raid at a house at Jalan Taman Da Sing 7, the Miri Police rescued eight Indonesian women, believed to be the victims of human trafficking.

Preliminary investigations showed that the women aged between 30 and 58 were exploited by their employers, who had made them work as domestic helpers for two to five years without paying wages to them.
