The Turkish (parliament's) empathy demonstrates that Indonesia is not alone in facing various disasters, and reflects good relations between the two countries
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Bambang Soesatyo, on Monday received a condolence call from the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop, over the crash of Sriwijaya Air flight SJ-182.



During the call, Sentop said he prayed that Allah SWT would accept those killed in the accident and that the bereaved families remain strong and sincere, Soesatyo informed.



"The Turkish (parliament's) empathy demonstrates that Indonesia is not alone in facing various disasters, and reflects good relations between the two countries. Turkey is a friend in love and sorrow," he said in his phone conversation with Sentop.



During the phone conversation, Sentop also revealed the agenda of his planned visit to Indonesia along with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan later this year.



The Sriwijaya Air flight SJ-182, bearing the registration number PK-CLC, lost contact on Saturday (January 9, 2020) at 2:40 p.m. Western Indonesia time (WIB) shortly after take-off and crashed between Lancang Island and Laki Island, Thousand Islands, DKI Jakarta. The flight was traveling on the Jakarta-Pontianak route.



Based on the manifest, the aircraft, which was produced in 1994, was carrying 62 persons: 50 passengers and 12 crew members. There were 40 adults, seven children, and three babies traveling on board the aircraft.



The search and investigation of the aircraft’s debris and body parts is currently on and is being carried out by the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) and the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC).
