We are really ready for starting the academic activities through this year.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII) in Depok, West Java, will open for student enrollment this year, as its main building's construction is scheduled for completion in mid-2021, the college's high-ranking official stated on Jan 22.

"We are really ready for starting academic activities through this year," Rector of UIII, Professor Komaruddin Hidayat, noted in a statement released by the Presidential Staff Office on Saturday.

Hidayat revealed that the university already had on its payroll top lecturers from Indonesia and abroad and will offer fully-funded scholarship for five academic years in seven faculties: Islamic study, Islamic economy, education, social-humanities, science and technology, arts, and architecture.

Even as administrative preparations are currently being made, the government is targeting to complete work on the building in June or August 2021.

"Accelerating work on the UIII building complex project has been one of our priorities since it was designated as a national strategic project. This will prompt the university to begin its activities in this year," Helson Siagian, an official of the Presidential Staff Office, stated during his meeting with Hidayat on Friday.

"This college will be a center of excellence that emerges as an Indonesian pride," he remarked.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Public Works and People Housing (PUPR) are both managing construction of the UIII building in two separate sections. Related news: UIII rector should prepare international-standard curricula: Amin
