Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General's Office, on Monday, named eight suspects in an alleged graft case related to the management of finance and investment funding at state-owned insurance firm PT Asuransi Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Indonesia (Asabri).

The eight suspects comprise two former PT Asabri president directors, former PT Asabri finance director, former chief of the PT Asabri investment division, PT Prima Jaringan president director, PT Hanson International Tbk president director, and PT Trada Alam Minera commissioner.

The last two suspects, identified by their initials as BT and HH, were also named suspects in a graft case related to the mismanagement of investment at state-owned insurer Asuransi Jiwasraya.

Shortly after being named suspects, the investigating team of the Attorney General's Office detained all the suspects, except for BT and HH. They will be held in custody for 20 days from February 1 to February 20, 2021.

Both BT and HH were not detained since they had been held in custody as suspects in the Jiwasraya case.

"The suspects will be held in custody for 20 days at the Attorney General's Office's Salemba detention house and at the Jambe detention house in Tigaraksa, Tangerang," Head of the Law Information Center at the Attorney General’s Office Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak stated on Monday.

Asabri reportedly lost Rp10 trillion, as several stocks in its portfolio endured losses of more than 95 percent in 2019.

The state firm manages social insurance and pension funds of the Indonesian military and police personnel and employees of the Defense Ministry.
