May the aid we have given to the public be useful and alleviate their financial burdenMamuju, W Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has continued to distribute humanitarian aid to victims of the powerful earthquake which struck remote and isolated areas in Mamuju and Majene districts, West Sulawesi province, on January 15, 2021.
“Personnel of the Mamuju District Military Command 1418 have distributed logistic assistance to the villages of Pangasaan and Tanete Pao after distributing similar assistance to the remote village of Labuang Rano, which became isolated in the wake of the quake in Mamuju," chief of the Mamuju District Military Command 1418, Colonel Aji Sartono, said here on Thursday.
The assistance, which has been distributed to villages using a helicopter, has been provided by PT. Mapanbumi and the Faramita foundation, he informed.
The aid includes rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, sugar, salt, soybean sauce, tea, baby biscuits, baby milk, soap, mats, blankets, and other necessities.
"May the aid we have given to the public be useful and alleviate their financial burden," Sartono remarked.
A total of 91,003 people fled their homes in the aftermath of the 6.2-magnitude quake.
Earlier, the Army had pressed a helicopter into service to distribute humanitarian aid among refugees who left their homes after the quake struck an isolated area in Mamuju district.
At least 100 people lost their lives and hundreds of others sustained injuries following the quake.
