The roads swamped by the downpour comprised DI Panjaitan Street in East Jakarta and Kapten Tendean Street in South Jakarta, Traffic Director of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Senior Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo stated.
Purnomo noted that 50-centimeter-deep floodwaters inundated several sections of the DI Panjaitan Street, especially the tunnel of Cawang toll road, owing to which the police redirected traffic to several alternative roads.
"The floodwaters disrupted the movement of motorists heading from Bekasi to Cawang," Purnomo noted while inspecting the flooded roads in East Jakarta.
Traffic Director of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police noted that heavy rains and flooding paralyzed Kapten Tendean Street in South Jakarta, thereby cutting off traffic from Kuningan to Blok M.
Traffic on Gatot Subroto Street and several other streets was also disrupted by flooding.
"We closed the roads that are not passable and redirected the traffic to alternative roads with the help of the police, military, and transportation office," he remarked.
