Medan (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of the potential of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and lightning in parts of North Sumatra.

According to a written statement received here on Tuesday, the BMKG remarked that moderate to heavy rains along with strong winds and lightning are likely to occur from day to night in the mountainous areas, west slopes, and west coast of North Sumatra.

Temperature in the area is estimated to range between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 60-98 percent and the winds blowing from the north to northeast at a speed of 5-30 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, moderate-category waves reaching heights of between 1.25 meters and 2.5 meters are forecast in the waters of North Sabang, West Aceh, Aceh West Indian Ocean, and West Indian Ocean of Nias. Related news: BMKG forecasts moderate, heavy rainfall in several Indonesian regions
