Jakarta (ANTARA) - Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Commissioner Hengki Haryadi said all crowd-pulling activities, including the ones related to takbiran (recital of God is great) events on the eve of Eid-al-Fitr, are categorized as a violation of law.

"All forms of crowd-pulling activities are prohibited. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, any activity that potentially attracts crowds violates the law," he said here Sunday.

Hence, he warned the people at large of not gathering at the eve of Eid-al-Fitr which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadhan because the takbiran events often trigger crowds of people.

The police also prioritize preventive measures to prevent crowds from celebrating the Eid al-Fitr festivity, he said.

As part of its public awareness campaigns on the importance of implementing health protocols to combat COVID-19 transmission, the Central Jakarta police precinct has also installed several banners containing messages on COVID-19 prevention.
