"During fasting, we practice self-control, and now, it is time for us to practice it by refraining from gathering and staying in touch physically," Baswedan noted at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout here on Wednesday night.
The governor lauded the residents of DKI Jakarta and its surroundings for refraining from traveling to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
Baswedan believes this approach as part of the efforts to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. He also did not hesitate to call them warriors.
"You are a fighter in the battle against COVID-19. Hence, we express our gratitude and appreciation," the 16th governor of DKI Jakarta stated.
On the same occasion, the governor also congratulated the people, who celebrated Eid al-Fitr.
"Minal aidin wal faizin. We are sorry physically and spiritually," the governor stated. Related news: Baswedan performs Eid al-Fitr prayer at home under COVID-19 protocols
