Jakarta (ANTARA) - Mutual cooperation and discipline in observing the health protocols are vital for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir has said.

“Mutual cooperation and discipline are the keys to face our current situation, so we can go through the pandemic and post-pandemic (challenges) together,” Thohir said here on Thursday.

Indonesia has to meet the challenges brought by the pandemic, he added.

“If we do not work hand-in-hand, stay disciplined, and do not ensure to keep Indonesia healthy, do not ever expect that this country can work and grow,” he cautioned.

The public has to stay disciplined in observing the health protocols, for example, when going to cinemas or crowded places, people must always wash hands, wear a mask properly, and maintain a safe physical distance, he said.

The SOEs Minister also asked the public to not be afraid to go back to watching movies at cinemas as long as they remained disciplined in following the health protocols.

“Come on, go back to the cinema while staying disciplined in following health protocols by washing hands, wearing a mask properly, and maintaining physical distance,” he said.

Thohir attended the screening of the film ‘Tjut Nyak Dien’ here on National Awakening Day, which was observed on Thursday.

First Vice SOEs Minister Pahala Mansury, Second Vice SOEs Minister Kartika Wijoatmodjo, several filmmakers, such as Cristine Hakim, Slamet Rahardjo, Eros Djarot, as well as other directors and people connected to the film industry also attended the event.

In observance of the health protocols, Thohir and the other guests wore masks while watching the movie.

All those in attendance took the GeNose test and underwent a body temperature scan prior to the screening.
