Jakarta (ANTARA) - Waking up early can make people physically and mentally healthier, lower risk of depression, and create a more positive mindset apart from helping to better regulate emotions, child and adolescent psychologist, Saskhya Aulia Prima, stated.

"A positive mindset helps a person to be optimistic, allows better emotional management, and improves social skills, so that the person becomes more assertive," Prima, who graduated from the Master of Profession of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Indonesia, stated during a virtual chat here on Wednesday.

When people get accustomed to doing routine activities early in the morning, they will seem calmer, as they have free time for themselves before starting an activity or work.

Waking up early in the morning also allows people to plan and prepare more carefully, so that various tasks can be completed, as they have allocated time for each activity well. Thus, productivity will be maintained and the person’s emotions will be more stable and calmer. In addition, doing activities early in the morning is also necessary to build healthy habits.

However, it does not translate to the fact that one has to go straight to work after waking up in the morning. However, it is advisable to wake up immediately when the alarm goes off.

The co-founder of @TigaGenerasi advises people to engage in activities, such as praying or meditating, to calm them after waking up in the morning. Light exercises or activities that require physical activity can also be a suitable daily agenda after waking up in the morning. People are also advised to relax by reading a few books, journaling, and consuming nutritious food and drinks before commencing their morning activities.

"Try to wake up at the same time every day and plan your day from the day before," she suggested.

Through careful planning, people do not have to rush while starting the day. She does not advise people to conduct activities immediately to complete the target quickly. However, waking up early in the morning and setting aside time for quiet contemplation will help people start activities in a more calm state.
