"The opportunity for the Small and Medium Industry (IKM) of Indonesian Muslim products is very large. It is a shame if we do not utilize this potential. Hence, we facilitate the ii-Motion exhibition, so that Indonesian export products can penetrate the global market," Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang stated at the virtual opening of the ii-Motion Exhibition, Thursday.
To this end, the Minister of Industry has encouraged the growth of the IKM of Muslim products, strengthened Indonesia's image as a key player in the world's halal industry, and supported Indonesia's efforts to become the largest halal product producer in the world.
Director General of Small, Medium, and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry Gati Wibawaningsih highlighted the increasing public demand for products and services labeled as halal, along with stepping up awareness of the quality, safety, and health of the products consumed.
According to Wibawaningsih, not only Muslim-majority countries, such as Indonesia and Malaysia, but also companies from China, Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, and Australia, were scrambling to produce halal goods to gain a foothold in the global halal product industry market.
"I believe we can take part in the halal product market, at least as a major player in Asia," Wibawaningsih remarked. Related news: Amin optimistic of Indonesia becoming world's top halal goods producer
