Penajam (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry has readied infrastructure to support the supply of clean water in Sepaku Sub-District, North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan, to meet the new state capital’s requirements.

Assistant II for Economics and Development at the Regional Secretariat of North Penajam Paser District, Ahmad Usman, stated here on Friday that the ministry had worked on preparations to meet the clean water requirements in line with the capital city relocation plan.

Apart from constructing dams, the ministry is also building infrastructure, such as intakes and river transmission pipelines, to support the supply of clean water to Sepaku District.

The East Kalimantan river basin office carried out the construction of the river intake and transmission pipeline network in the area.

The intake is equipped with a clean water treatment plant (WTP).

"The 99-hectare river intake and transmission pipeline under construction is located in Sukaraja Village," he added.

The river intake and transmission pipeline network is being built to support the supply of clean water for the new capital city of Indonesia.

Budget for the construction is derived from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget.

"The central government has allocated a budget of around Rp364 billion to build the clean water infrastructure," Usman noted. Related news: Connectivity a determining factor in new capital development: Sumadi
