Most of them are conducting self-isolation.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Over 300 healthcare workers at different hospitals in Kudus District, Central Java, were exposed to SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed.
"In Kudus, more than 300 healthcare workers have been infected. However, they have been vaccinated, and they are in good health," the minister noted during an online press conference held from the Presidential Secretariat on Monday.
One of the healthcare workers is a medical specialist aged 70 years, he remarked.
"He is also in good health now," Sadikin stated.
The Health Ministry has dispatched a team of doctors from the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) and the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) to replace and placate the pressure on medical workers exposed to the coronavirus, he revealed.
On a separate occasion, PPNI Chief Harif Fadilah confirmed that a total of104 nurses in Kudus had tested positive for COVID-19.
"Most of them are conducting self-isolation," he stated.
Fadilah noted that PPNI had assigned 48 nurses from several health service facilities in Central Java to handle COVID-19 patients in Kudus.
"Through the PPNI branch in Central Java, 48 nurses were assigned in Kudus," he remarked.
Fadilah urged stakeholders in the local government to stand firm in enforcing health protocols.
"The spike in (COVID-19) cases in several regions is related to various social activities in the community, so the regional government must stand firm in upholding health protocols," he noted.
