It is true that 35 sub-districts in Cirebon district have been classified as red zones
Cirebon, W Java (ANTARA) - Thirty-five out of 40 sub-districts in West Java’s Cirebon district have been declared as red zones, or areas with a high risk of COVID-19 transmission, the local COVID-19 task force said.



"It is true that 35 sub-districts in Cirebon district have been classified as red zones," chief of the Cirebon District Health Office, Eni Suhaeni, said here on Monday.



Based on an evaluation conducted by the task force, only four sub-districts have been categorized as orange zones, or areas with a moderate risk of COVID-19 transmission, while one sub-district has been classified as a yellow zone, or an area with a low risk of COVID-19 transmission, she informed.



The district's daily COVID-19 cases increased by an average of 150, she said.



The COVID-19 transmission rate in the district rose significantly in the past week, with more than 150 people contracting the infection per day, she elaborated.



"The addition of confirmed COVID-19 cases has reached more than 150 per day," she said.



On Sunday (June 20, 2021), the daily COVID-19 cases hit a record high of 229, she noted.



Meanwhile, the office of Mundu sub-district, Cirebon district, was temporarily closed after one of its employees tested positive for the coronavirus.



Mundu sub-district head Anwar Sadat said the decision to close the office’s administrative service was aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19.



The office will remain closed until the results of employees' swab tests are issued, he said.
