Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia added 15,308 daily COVID-19 cases on Wednesday (June 23, 2021), taking the total tally to 2,033,421, according to the Task Force for COVID-19 Response.



With an additional 7,167 patients recovering from the virus, the total recoveries reached 1,817,303.



Meanwhile, the number of people dying of the infection rose by 303, bringing the death toll to 55,594.



Jakarta recorded the highest number of daily infections at 4,693, followed by West Java (2,910), Central Java (2,595), East Java (873), Yogyakarta (694), and Riau (330).



The highest number of daily recoveries were recorded at 2,032 in Central Java, followed by Jakarta (1,191), West Java (1,030), East Java (422), Riau (315), and Riau Islands (279).

The number of active cases, or patients receiving treatment and conducting self-isolation, increased by 7,808, taking the total count to 160,524. The number of suspected COVID-19 cases stood at 124,022.



Cumulatively, the highest number of positive COVID-19 cases were recorded in Jakarta at 486.957, followed by West Java (353,629), Central Java (235,434), East Java (165,886), East Kalimantan (74,296), Riau (68,484), and South Sulawesi (63,290).



However, Jakarta also recorded the highest number of recoveries at 443,012, followed by West Java (314,472), Central Java (197,159), East Java (147,870), East Kalimantan (70,759), Riau (63,793) and South Sulawesi (61,475). (INE)
