Participating in vaccination means you have already become a health hero.
Surabaya (ANTARA) - People participating in vaccination have become health heroes owing to their readiness to protect local residents from being exposed to COVID-19, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto stated.

“Participating in vaccination means you have already become a health hero,” Tjhajanto remarked during his visit to a vaccination drive themed “Serbuan Vaksinasi” held by the Military Regional Commando (Kodam) V/Brawijaya along with the Indonesian Buddhist Guardians (Walubi) at Grand City Surabaya on Friday.

The TNI commander, accompanied by National Police Chief Gen. Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, National Disaster Mitigation (BNPB) Head Lt Gen. Ganip Warsito, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and several officials of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), paid a visit to the vaccination drive.

At the venue, Tjahjanto also called on the public, particularly those residing in East Java, to abide by the health protocols.

“Being vaccinated does not mean you are immune. However, in this way, we are better prepared if we are exposed to COVID-19. Hence, we must follow the health protocols,” he affirmed.

Tjahjanto additionally thanked the public for partaking in vaccination in the hopes of being protected from contracting COVID-19.

The TNI commander along with his entourage only took a few minutes to visit a vaccination drive, and he was thereafter scheduled to visit an emergency public activity restrictions (PPKM) enforcement post in Gedangan Sub-district, Sidoarjo District.

Meanwhile, the vaccination drive was conducted for four days -- on July 2-3, 2021, and July 8-9, 2021 -- through online registration.

The TNI personnel observed and directed the vaccination drive when thousands of residents participated in an orderly fashion.

Vaccination participants are mandated to follow health protocols and receive the vaccine on the third floor after which they will be observed post-inoculation at the mall’s atrium area.

Apart from vaccination in the Grand City, the people of Surabaya are able to receive the vaccine at several locations: the police headquarter on Sikatan Street and at the Gelora 10 November Station on Tambaksari Street.

Vaccination at the Gelora 10 November Station was conducted on a massive scale on July 6-11, 2021. Related news: TNI conducts vaccination activities in Indonesia-Malaysia border area
