Jakarta (ANTARA) - Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas invited all to participate in Indonesia's Moment of Silence on July 10, 10:07 local time, simultaneously across Indonesia to pray for health workers, volunteers, and those succumbing to COVID-19.

"Let us be together, at 10:07 local time, pause all activities for 60 seconds, wish the health workers, volunteers, the community, and all those who have preceded us," Qoumas noted in a statement here, Saturday.

The minister remarked that Indonesia's Moment of Silence (Hening Cipta Indonesia) is an awareness call to take a moment and pray for those who died and for the COVID-19 pandemic to end soon.

"Indonesia's Moment of Silence is from us, by ourselves, from our respective homes, for our loved ones, and for healthy Indonesia. Remember, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 10:07 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), let us bow our hearts together and pray for the good of this country," he affirmed.

The minister of religion lauded all parties, religious and community leaders, as well as ministries and state institutions that were also actively involved in inviting the public to partake in Indonesia's Moment of Silence.

Indonesia witnessed another record increase in daily coronavirus infections, with 31,189 cases reported on Tuesday, which took the total tally to 2,345,018, according to the COVID-19 Response Task Force.

Jakarta reported the highest single-day rise in cases at 9,439, followed by 7,239 in West Java and 4,048 in Central Java.

Meanwhile, 15,863 people recovered from the infection across the country on Tuesday, bringing the total count of recoveries to 1,958,553. Jakarta recorded the highest daily recoveries at 6,100.

With 728 people succumbing to the virus, the death toll climbed to 61,868. Central Java witnessed the highest number of daily deaths at 232.

The number of active cases, or patients receiving treatment or conducting self-isolation, increased by 14,598 to reach 324,597, according to the task force.

The number of suspected cases stood at 86,969. The figure was based on the result of tests conducted on 183,053 specimens obtained from 136,765 people at laboratories across Indonesia.

Currently, the daily positivity rate is pegged at 41.55 percent for specimens and 22.80 percent for people.
