If they are not sterilized, then they will mate and breed. Often, pet owners become confused when their pets give birth. They are clueless about what they should do with the kittens or puppies
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sterilizing pets can improve their quality of life and increase chances of a longer, healthier life, according to Indonesia's Veterinarian Association (PDHI) member Novi Wulandari.

"If they are not sterilized, then they will mate and breed. Often, pet owners become confused when their pets give birth. They are clueless about what they should do with the kittens or puppies," Wulandari stated during a virtual press conference observed here on Saturday.

Owners tend to get overwhelmed at the sight of the litter of puppies and end up abandoning them somewhere that is far from favorable, according to Wulandari. Hence, she strongly supports sterilization as a better option.

Wulandari clarified that despite sterilization being conducted, the pets can mate.

Hence, Wulandari believes this should not be a reason for pet owners to sense "pity" and feel hesitant to sterilize their pets.

Sterilizing pets, especially cats and dogs, is often considered taboo in society.

However, sterilizing pets can be a good choice for owners as well as be the best health decision for their cats and dogs.

By sterilizing their pets, owners can prevent their animal companions from contracting chronic diseases, such as uterus infection, breast cancer, ovarium cancer, and also prostate cancer.

Through sterilization, owners partake in the movement to control animal populations to ensure better quality of life with optimal treatment and care for their beloved pets.

Artist Ryan Delon, a pet owner and lover, also agreed to conducting pet sterilization as the best decision for these beloved companions.

Delon often felt saddened at the sight of abandoned animals. Hence, as a pet owner, he felt responsible for the well-being of his pets and decided to sterilize them.
