This application is needed by every passenger to make it easier and to hasten document validation, and it is effective for the passengers in terms of avoiding COVID-19 spread
Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The management of Fatmawati Soekarno Airport, Bengkulu has started to implement digital-based health document validation for passengers using the PeduliLindungi application.

The airport has implemented the program in collaboration with airline managements and the Port Health Office, state-run airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II Executive General Manager of Fatmawati Soekarno Airport Heru Karyadi said.

"This application is needed by every passenger to make it easier and to hasten document validation, and it is effective for the passengers in terms of avoiding COVID-19 spread," he elaborated.

The airport management has provided the facility and personnel for digital validation. The validation process will take place just before entering the departure lobby, he added.

The staff will direct the passengers to the document validation site and inform them about the PeduliLindungi application, he said.

During the validation process, passengers will only need to show the QR code displayed in the PeduliLindungi application, select the digital passport, and select the COVID-19 test result, he informed.

"Later on, there will be information containing QR code that will be scanned by the airline staff," he said.

The application has been integrated with healthcare facilities that are authorized to perform swab or antigen tests on passengers, thus, that would make the validation process easier, Karyadi noted.

The result of the QR code scan will determine whether a passenger is eligible to take the flight or not, he said.

Passengers with a "fit-to-fly" status will be allowed to go through the departure gate, he added. They will be checked in by aviation security (AVSEC) officers, he continued.

Meanwhile, passengers who are found "unfit to fly" will be directed to the manual document validation site, where the validation process will be done manually by the Port Health Office team, Karyadi disclosed.

"We ask all passengers to use this application, because in addition to speeding up the validation process, it also reduces the risk of spreading COVID-19. Should there be any passengers who do not bring smartphones, we will serve them manually," he added.
