The Purbalingga district government is working unremittingly to accelerate vaccination programs in the area, and Wikantono believes that the targeted vaccination rate would be achieved.

However, he highlighted the importance of public support through active participation in order to make the vaccination program a success.

"The vaccination program is one of the priority programs that (we) implement in order to support the accelerated handling of COVID-19 in Purbalingga region. Most patients in Magelang’s hospitals are people from outside the city ," he emphasized.

Wikantono noted that the vaccination program was being accelerated to reach a wider scope of people to get vaccinated, thereby helping to achieve herd immunity in Purbalingga.

Not only are the elderly being vaccinated, but also the public in general, Wikantono pointed out.

"We incessantly strive to bring some strategic programs into force in order to accelerate the progress in achieving the COVID-19 vaccination target. Apart from that, we always disseminate information (and educate) the public on the importance of the vaccine," he stated.

"Purbalingga residents that have not yet received their share of the vaccine should please visit the nearest public health centers and register, so (we) can follow up," he remarked.
