Padang (ANTARA) - The Spectrum Politika Institute disclosed the result of its latest survey showing that the public satisfaction with the government’s performance was recorded at 65.3 percent amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Based on a survey conducted on July 5-17, 2021, the level of public satisfaction with the government stood at 65.3 percent, with 32.3 percent dissatisfied and 2.4 percent not giving an assessment," Director of Data and Research at the institute Andri Rusta noted on Friday.

Rusta remarked that the satisfaction rate was still at a moderate level, as the average public assessment of the government's performance was still quite high. This survey result marked a challenge for the government to continue to improve its quality of performance in future.

Public satisfaction rate of 54.3 percent was recorded for government service in the fields of politics, law, and security.

Meanwhile, in the economic field, the public satisfaction rate in the government's performance reached 53.3 percent, 68 percent in the social sector, and public satisfaction rate reaching 60 percent over the government's performance in the education sector.

"The government's performance in the infrastructure sector, which is its main program at this time, actually shows the highest community satisfaction rate, reaching 72.7 percent," Rusta stated.

Nevertheless, the rate of public satisfaction with the government’s policies in eradicating corruption was low at 48 percent, while the rate of public satisfaction with the government's performance in handling COVID-19 only reached 57.8 percent

Rusta emphasized that the prevailing conditions greatly affected the assessment of the government's performance in these two fields.

The institute held a survey on July 5-17, 2021 that focused on the dynamic changes in perception and voting behavior during the Post-Election 2019 period in Indonesia.

This survey, conducted in 34 provinces in Indonesia, involved 1,240 respondents interviewed directly, with a margin of error of 2.8 percent and a 95-percent confidence level.

Respondents had to answer several questions, especially regarding the electability of political parties that exist today and public satisfaction in the government's performance, among others.
