Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-run pharmaceutical company PT Bio Farma (Persero) has said it is in the process of distributing 15 million doses of finished Sinovac vaccines that Indonesia received in August 2021 through bilateral schemes or grants from friendly countries.

"Bio Farma has received Sinovac vaccine on August 13 and August 16 (2021) with five million doses each, and another five million doses of grant from the Kingdom of the Netherlands," Bio Farma Corporate Secretary and the company's COVID-19 spokesperson Bambang Heriyanto said via short messaging on Friday.

The vaccines are a part of the 25 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine that Indonesia has received as of the end of August 2021, he informed.

The arrival of the next Sinovac vaccine batches is planned to take place on Monday (August 23, 2021) and Friday (August 27, 2021). Each batch will comprise five million doses, he added.

Apart from Sinovac, Indonesia has also received COVID-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca in the form of finished products through a bilateral scheme and a grant from the Netherlands on Friday, he informed .

"The Dutch government and the bilateral assistance also sent us an AstraZeneca vaccine, each as many as 450 thousand doses and 567 thousand doses," he added.

As of August 19, 2021, Bio Farma has distributed 111,84 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, comprising 3 million CoronaVac doses and 85,97 Bio Farma vaccine doses, Heriyanto said.

The pharmaceutical company has also distributed 15.35 million AstraZeneca does and 7.5 million Moderna doses under the COVAX, bilateral, and grant schemes, he added.

"The stock of COVID-19 vaccines at Bio Farma is 11.8 million doses, consisting of 1.8 million doses that have been released and 10 million doses of CoronaVac, which are still waiting for release," Heriyanto disclosed.

An additional 8.4 million doses will be released by Bio Farma in August this year and a 23.3 million doses in September, he said.

"The vaccines will be distributed to 34 provinces in Indonesia, after passing the quarantine period and sampling process and getting a lot release from the Indonesian Drug and Food Control Agency (BPOM)," he added.
