“We are optimistic that young people would manifest their dreams in the creative economy sector, not only for themselves but also for Indonesia," Uno noted in a written statement on Saturday.
The minister later noted that the COVID-19 pandemic had compelled people to improve or update their skills, including in the creative economy sector.
To support these efforts, the government has come up with various policies, such as pre-employment programs, social assistance, cash assistance, and easy access to restructuring to boost business in the digital economy ecosystem.
Through these policies, Uno expects entrepreneurs and the creative economy community to be able to compete in the industrial era 4.0.
"Our hope is that entrepreneurs as well as the creative economy and tourism community would be ready to enter the Industry 4.0 and the post-pandemic era," the minister remarked.
The Pengamat Fest 2021 event was organized by the Pengamat Negeri organisation to enliven the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. The event themed "Empowering Youths to Boost The Creative Economy Through Social media" was held on Friday, August 20.
The event aims to provide educational materials on certain topics to Indonesian youth. In addition, it aims to raise the spirit of young people to be able to work in the country.
Dino Patti Djalal, as founder of the Foreign Policy Community Indonesia, also attended the event as a speaker. He lauded the Pengamat Fest that edified the public about the creative economy through social media.
Djalal believes that social media can be used as a reference to develop the existing potential.
“I have seen cases in the family sphere. What was initially ignored, though after going through social media, the case became a hit. This is testament that social media can be used as a reference to develop existing potential as long as it is used properly," he stated.
Pengamat Negeri is a digital platform to boost the literacy of young people on current issues. This platform has the slogan "Silence is not an option," with the hopes that young Indonesians would no longer make silence an option.
