Jakarta (ANTARA) - Principal of Central Jakarta Cempaka Putih 77 State High School Sri Rahmina Utami has asked students to bring letters of permission from parents for attending a limited face-to-face learning session on Monday.

"The standard operating procedure applied in the 77 State High School (is like this:) the students hand over letters of permission from parents first, just before the entrance," she said.

Before allowing them to join Monday's learning session, the school conducted temperature scans on students to ensure their body temperature did not exceed 37.3 degree Celsius, Utami said.

Six classes of the 10th grade took part in the first day of limited face-to-face learning at the 77 State High School. The subjects taught were essential subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, History, Sociology, Civics, and Music, the school said.

Each class was attended by 18 students, or 50 percent of the total capacity of 36 students. The remaining students joined the classes virtually.

Parents and guardians of the students also showed enthusiasm over the opening of limited face-to-face learning.

"We are so enthusiastic; hopefully, we can return to normalcy. Apart from meeting friends, the students can understand the subjects more, if they learn directly in class," Irma (43), a student's parent, said.

Meanwhile, Alma (16), a student, said she was happy that she could join the Sociology and History classes on the first day of limited face-to-face learning.

"We studied two subjects for three hours straight. Happy to meet friends, because previously (I) haven't met them in person," Alma remarked.

The 77 State High School said it will conduct limited face-to-face learning on Mondays for the 10th grade, Wednesdays for the 11th grade, and Fridays for the 12th grade.

The sessions will last from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time, the school authorities said.

Each classroom will be disinfected on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, they added.
