Indonesia will not shine just because of the big torch in Jakarta, but Indonesia will glow if the candles in the village are lighted.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo called on the younger generation to actively contribute and be the solution to problems faced by the Indonesian village communities.

Pranowo noted that youth should currently take on the three roles of village development drivers, village companions, and pioneers of village independence.

"Insya Allah (God willing), villages in Indonesia will not lack contribution from their youths," the governor remarked as keynote speaker at a webinar held by the Youth Association for Indonesian Village (ADI) here on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Pranowo brought up these points with ADI's Advisory Board Satya Hangga Yudha Widya Putra, who concurrently serves as the secretary general of the Association of Finance Ministry's Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) / Mata Garuda Scholarship Recipients regarding village independence in the energy sector.

The webinar was held under the framework of commemorating Indonesia's 76th Independence Month that bore the theme "The Role and Challenges of Youth in Village Development to Welcome Golden Indonesia 2045."

Several young people engaged in various fields were also present: Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, member of Commission VII of the House of Representatives; Adnan Purichta Ihsan, district head of Gowa and secretary general of the Association of District Governments of Indonesia (Apkasi); Dwinita Larasati, the ICCN strategic deputy; Faruq Ibnul Hadi, coordinator of the World Indonesian Students Association (PPID); Ageng Dendy, secretary general of DPP GMNI; and RME Tjokrosantoso, founder of the Youth Revolution Movement (Garuda).

Meanwhile, ADI Chairman Rifqi Nuril Huda stated at the webinar that the village youth must thoroughly prepare for Golden Indonesia 2045.

Huda remarked that in order to drive momentum for the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2045, all parties must collaborate actively to produce youth with character and quality, considering that rural areas constitute almost 80 percent of the regions in Indonesia.

Those rural areas are where village youth are born and brought up in Indonesia, he highlighted.

He recalled the message of Hatta, Indonesia's first vice president: 'Indonesia will not shine just because of the big torch in Jakarta, but Indonesia will glow if the candles in the village are lighted'.

"Villages should be a benchmark for the progress of our nation, as they are the face of Indonesia," Huda added. (
