Jakarta (ANTARA) - Telkomsel, a subsidiary of state-run communications firm PT Telkom Indonesia, will collaborate with SMESCO Indonesia to support the digitalization of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"Telkomsel is optimistic that it could provide technology-based solution to optimize the potential of Indonesia's cooperatives as well as small and medium enterprises," president director of Telkomsel, Hendri Mulya Syam, said in an official statement issued on Saturday.

Telkomsel will do this with the support of the advanced 4G and 5G technological network that is continued to be developed gradually, he explained.

Telkomsel and SMESCO Indonesia signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the collaboration last Friday.

This effort aligns with Telkomsel's parent company TelkomGroup's goal of empowering MSMEs as the backbone of Indonesia's economy, which have a 61.07 percent contribution to the national gross domestic Pproduct.

MSMEs also have the potential to absorb 97 percent of the nation's total workforce.

Telkomsel and its digital ecosystem will initiate the development, the improvement, and the empowerment of MSMEs digital service, SMESCO Indonesia's primary director, Leonard Theosabrata, said in the same statement.

Telkomsel would do this through various advanced as well as inclusive digital platforms and services that are suitable with the market development and need, he added.

This is being done so that MSMEs can have the chance to be integrated into Telkomsel's ecosystem, he elaborated.

SMESCO aims to help 158 thousand MSMEs integrate into the digital ecosystem by 2023.

Telkomsel said it will utilize 99 percent of the Usahaku digital ecosystem to help enterprises, under the mentorship of SMESCO, market their product globally, digitalize the operational system, improve capability through incubation and training, and provide capital solution.

This initiative is also a chance for enterprises under SMESCO's mentorship to expand their marketing reach by becoming Telkomsel MyAds partner and be a part of DigiPOS Aja! and Telkomsel orbit, it added.
