Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry disbursed cash assistance for the renovation of 50 houses in two tourism villages in Sentani District, Papua, under the ministry's housing financial stimulus program.

"The housing stimulus is distributed to residents whose houses are in urgent need of repair and renovation," Director General of Housing of the ministry Khalawi Abdul Hamid noted in his press statement in Jakarta, Monday.

Some 30 housing units in Yoboi and 20 housing units in the Asei tourism villages in Sentani District will receive the renovation stimulus, he informed.

The ministry has encouraged locals to contribute to the renovation of the stimulus recipients' houses, with assistance from competent facilitators from the ministry. He also urged the regional government to emulate the local collaboration in their respective jurisdictions.
